As a matter of interest, here are some pressing issues that haven't gotten any attention since the idea of a composting program was first announced back in September of 2017. What really is more important?
Here's the composting post from Sept. 2017.
Do we separate grain products from meat products, or will food scrap recycling be single stream? (Sept. 2017)
- Olive Street Garage needing repair for the second time in two years. Yet no one on borough council took responsibility for signing off on the first repair or recourse for funds spent.
- An increasing "Crime Culture" as reported by Mayor Bob McMahon this year who is called out for not being prepared and forgetting to give safety report.
- A shootout that occurred on 6th Street three weeks ago. Yet no update or followup.
- The incident on Third Street just last week.
- A bridge that has been in disrepair for almost twenty five years, while better access to Media is needed more than ever to alleviate congestion (i.e. West End Flats, Hampton Inn).
- The increase in treated sewage (2.2 million Gallons per Day) Media's putting into Ridley creek.
- Parking - Has there been any vision shared on improvements in parking within the borough? Any? How about a new or expanded garage in the borough the county is interested in?
- Development. What's Media's elected officials' vision for continued development in the borough? Not the comprehensive plan that a handful of people participated in, but THEIR assessment.
- Finacial cost for new projects: Plum Street Mall, Veteran's Square, Media Library, etc.
- Lack of communication to residents and businesses on ALL OF THE ABOVE.
This is the same effort announced a few months back on this blog. The take-away from that discussion asked: Is this really needed? What are the sanitary ramifications and how much is this going to cost? I'm not sure if the results of the borough-wide survey on the program are posted anywhere, but they should be.
It looks like there will be a specific composting container provided by the borough for those interested in the pilot program.
So Media thinks they know better than residents on how to dispose table scraps! TABLE SCRAPS! I understand they are also looking at how many cars a residential property can have in the borough.
ReplyDeleteI understand the message yo uare trying to convey, but please report accurately. The incident on 3rd and Monroe did NOT happen last week, rather it happened around 8 months ago. I am not discrediting the seriousness of the incident but please try harder to report accurately.

Deletethe post is dated.............Sept. 2017) around 8 months ago. I am not discrediting the seriousness of the incident (or your post) but TEDMAN is being very accurate.
Haha, reading is fundamental!
DeleteMedia Borough is quietly becoming a commune.
ReplyDeleteWhat is cost and how many people are participating ?
ReplyDeleteWe should collect dung as well makes great fires and roofing materials for out buildings
ReplyDeleteOn the commune
Media Boroughs denies residents due process by never putting anything in writing and routinely violates there own ecode and just ignores residents in general this is true of the borough manager and all his staff
ReplyDeleteReally disappointed in media boroughs lack of following through and playing favorites with residents
The borough code officer needs to explore new career opportunities.
DeleteThe borough code officer needs to explore new career opportunities elsewhere.
DeleteYes couldnt agree more not sure what he acutally does and how much does he make for doing seemingly nothing
DeleteLooks like the courses at DCCC might
Need to be contuinued to find another job
Please elaborate on the borough code enforcement dept its time the Publio knows what they have and have not been doing
DeleteLet's put a biofuel operation next to mayor mcmayons Oakmont townhouse to recycle all the table scraps into biofuel it would be much more useful then the electric car charging station behind the firehouse
ReplyDeleteFirst they came for my trash, then my paper and plastics — now they want my banana peels! Is there no reprieve from the tyranny of this local government, conspiring to use tax payer dollars for public services!
ReplyDeleteNeed to right to know request to see what monies were paid to Brian Hall to handle the 3rd street bridge legal matter that ended in Media Borough being held in contempt of court a great status symbol for all the Media taxpayer money wasted on this issue
ReplyDeleteIf they are not doing anything...doesn't that make the "less government" GOP crowd happy?
ReplyDeleteOnly problem is doing nothing cost media borough taxpayers money to pay Brian Hall a personal injury lawyer lining giĆ own pockets it would appear
DeleteTo pay for borough composting is a little ridiculous when so many other things have been neglected I.e. Olive Street garage, 3rd street bridge, sidewalks where the borough has some kind of pad sidewalk inspector on there org. Chart ? It's expensive enough to live and pay taxes in media and while I compost myself I would never pay more for it
ReplyDeleteCan one of the whiners on here find a different whine? Aside from Norman Greenbaum ("Spirit in the Sky") and The Knack ("My Sharona"), there are very few bands who know only one song.
DeleteYour band reference makes no sense quit the bs please reveal to the public how much it costs and how many people are participating
DeleteSeems like media borugh only cares about BOD when it comes to compsting yet durante address Its own wastewater issues
ReplyDeleteThai i sure were minimized or ignored when approvata were given to add 600 plus residenti to the borough great job borough cooncil you all like to be green but nome of you are qualified to properly vet civil matters
The borough code Officer might be tired of lying for council people that make up their own rules
ReplyDeleteFor their friends
Media local gov't is broken
ReplyDeleteA media borough police Officer said as much when runnning into him at the community center
This proves media is better partially fermented then raw the lies aren't as pungent yet once you find out the truth
ReplyDeleteIt's just stinks anyway
Speaking of, who is in charge of policing the ever growing inventory of dumpsters on 2nd at Edgmont? Isn't that President Hall's corner? Why are they there year-round, taking up valuable parking space?
ReplyDeleteThey're strict rules to adhere to when it comes to refuse containers feel free to contact the borough I'm sure you will get a unsatisfactory answer or will have to deal with it yourself the borough makes you get permits yet takes no responsibility
DeleteFor anything
You should feel free to contact code enforcement that is their job
