Here's what is expected to occupy the vacant Quincy's storefront on State Street.

A nail salon is expected to occupy the former Quincy's store on State Street.

  1. Very disappointing. We do not need another nail salon, bank or hair salon in Media. Some different type of retail would be very nice. Loved Quincy's.

    1. Agree. Quincy's was unique, like Media. More of that please.

  2. Who needs another nail salon. Towns that go to crap have nail salons and antique stores and church's. Town Hall should say no. Everyone should say no.

  5. I vote for a 5th nail salon and then they can all specialize in a specific finger

  6. Please don't turn one of our town's treasures into another nail salon!

  7. I hope this is not true. Too bad. The nail salons on Main Street have worked hard to create a successful business. I am disappointed in the property owner who rented the space for a nail salon.

  9. Strange that there are 5 or 6 other ones in this very small radius - but I guess capititalism & the free market & commerce has to just try what it wants to try - I guess we can't zone things like this out. But I'm disappointed - there's so many other businesses that would be cool, in there, and add to a more diverse mix.

  11. Media borough paid a consulting firm to
Help to provide incite into a successful downtown not sure what the consultant cost
But the result was another nail place
Council could twist these landlords arms a little or lobby them again the mayor's primary skill set to no avail ?

    1. To be clear, you are advocating for government influence on private owned real estate and business that are operating within zoning requirements?

Thats a hard pass for me, no thanks.

    2. three suitable renters are lined up and vetted and t's put to a local
      Referundum vote by residents
This way media borough could earn back a portion of it's everybody's he town slogan this might also prevent the
High turnover with more resident input into stores. When are we passing a no cigarette sale in media Borough ordinance cigarettes are not fair trade
      And are highly additive

  13. These comments, as is often the case, seem to assume that local government can decide what businesses go into a particular place. But we don't have a Soviet economy. A conforming use can take the chance - even when it seems crazy, as it does to me in his instance - and a landlord can take the risk. It is not a City Hall issue.

    1. We have a lot of activists in media
Perhaps they should go to work
Finding stores that fit into the media experience also when local govt
Pays a consulting firm with or without a grant well you think media could help attract and lobby for seething better then a nail saloon
This is a leadership issue with local govt

  19. This whole post and comment thread is hilarious. Elsewhere in this blog, we have people attacking a Dem candidate for supposedly being "Socialist," and then here we have people attacking the Borough for not taking a firmer hand in determining who should rent this available property.

Same issue with West End Flats and other development in the Borough. On the one hand, complaints about not enough development, on the other hand, complaints about too much development. If you're going to be capitalists, then be consistent, or at least admit you're being unreasonable.

    1. Agreed but I'm an independent not a capitalists nor a socialist and see the decline in the immediate downtown as a MBA and media borough council failed leadership
Problem they could lead and attract different businesses the same way they decided to pay a consultant to do the same but the end result is a nail saloon
