RIDDLE CANCER CENTER HAS ANNUAL FUNDRAISER AT MEDIA THEATRE

RIDDLE CANCER CENTER HAS ANNUAL FUNDRAISER AT MEDIA THEATRE

The Riddle Memorial Cancer Center, which is a promise fulfilled by Riddle Hospital with a commitment to create a center of excellence dedicated to the treatment of cancer, will hold its annual fundraiser at The Media Theatre on May 7.

The event takes place at a performance of "The Who's Tommy", with a reception prior to the evening's show. Over 100 supporters of Riddle Memorial Cancer Center are attending. This year's fundraiser is dedicated to gaining funds to provide snacks, meals, and beverages to those dealing with cancer in the region.

The Center offers advanced medical treatment of all types of cancer, as well as a wide variety of education, prevention, and early detection programs.

Pictured are members of the Riddle Cancer Center's Advisory Board Mary Jo Grove, Terria Chernak, and Bill Boyle with actor Peter Kriss (center) who plays Tommy in the musical. Next to him are Advisory Board members Fred Haffelfinger, Judy Sharbaugh, and Media's Roger Ricker as he explains a bit about the production.

Media Boro. Needs help with Staffing the Primary Voting Polls

A lot of people take for granted what it takes to open, staff and operate voting precincts during election time.  Every voting cycle I'm amazed and grateful that the staff we have are able to pull it off.  There's been times, most recently in the Western Precinct, I wasn't sure if people were going to be able to walk through the doors and vote.

Unfortunately, the Judge of the Elections in the Northern Precinct is not able to help out this Primary due to medical reasons.  To this end, regardless of political affiliation, Media Boro. needs staffers to run the polls (note: you must be from your precinct to work the precinct).  If you're interested in being Judge of Elections, or other position, please email me and I will forward your information on to the right people.  These are paid positions and training will be provided.

Thanks, Tedman

Roger Ricker Democratic Candidate for Media Boro. Council

Regardless of the outcome of the May 17th Primary, I will be facing a democratic opponent.  I've had my disagreements with Roger Ricker who is running as a Democrat, but I also know he is an independent voice, one who has the best interest of Media in mind and a candidate that brings unity, not division.  I have the utmost respect for him standing up to the local party politics and the croynism he speaks of.  Media needs more of this!

The best thing for Media is to have qualified candidates for this November's election.

Pride in Media Boro Bipartisanship - tedmanformedia.com

In an earlier post I mentioned that during my fundraiser someone,  asked if I would get "Pride in Media Bipartisanship" pins for those interested in supporting it.  Well here they are!
Contrary to what a selected group of people want you to believe, as a Republican in Media, we don't receive agendas, nor do we push them.  What's interesting is that the people who make those allegations against the county, also know there not true.  Putting Media first is the best solution and that requires working with both parties.

As a candidate for Media Borough Council, I'm interested in getting things done and there is not a better model than the recent changes in borough council that happen within the last year.  With historical movement on the 3rd street bridge, new committee assignments, a new boro. engineer, solar initiatives, recycling and active discussion on the potential sale of the 1 West State St; these are real achievements that are showing results.

....and More Great Pictures from Media's Roots Ramble by Fig Media PA

Check out Fig Media PA and the great pictures they captured from last night's Americana Roots Ramble.

Media's Americana Roots Ramble A Big Success

Thanks to all involved who made last night's Roots Ramble a great time.  Despite the rain; the music, vibe and crowds were great.  I was hoping to see the Bullets at the Plumstead and Frog Holler on Picasso's new stage, but the show at Sligo's featuring the Ragamuffins and local artist, Scotty Paynter was too good to leave.

Council President, Pete Alyanakian Proposes Premiere Arts Festival at the Media Theatre

At last week's Borough Council workshop meeting Council President, Pete Alyanakian announced a  major proposal designed to position Media as the destination for "All Things" Arts and Culture in Delco.  The proposed Arts Festival will be a collaborative event between MAC, Fair Trade, Media Farmers Market, and other groups interested in volunteering their time for four days of events at the Theater

The week of the event will be four days in November from the 8th through the 11th.   That Saturday night will feature a major musical act by the theater not related to the Arts Festival.  The purpose is to bring Media together with movies, gallery showings, music acts, comedy and just good old wholesome fun and enjoyment.  Proceeds from the event will go to Media's non-profits.

This will no doubt be a win-win for all involved.   More details to come!

Tedman for Media Borough Council

I want to thank the Media residents, visitors and businesses today at Super Sunday for taking time to chat about what's important to Media.  It was nice to see even one of my opponents, Roger Ricker who, like myself was out and about and was doing a great job with the Media Theatre.

Last Friday, I also caught up with Paul Robinson who is also running under the Democratic ticket.  What's important to know, and what I convey, is that even though we're representing different parties, we're all concerned about putting Media FIRST; not an agenda.

Bipartisanship isn't just a buzz word, it's a new way of getting things done in Media.

Have a great week!

Tedman

Media Theatre Bringing Back the Garage Band Festival this Summer

It's great to see Media Theatre bringing back the Garage Band Festival this Summer.  Last year was a hit with the bands having a great time and the attendees even more so.   I caught the Broozers one night, but missed the R3 gig.  Hopefully, both bands play again with more local groups too.

For more information and to submit your group for consideration, please contact via email:  Roger Ricker.  Like myself, Roger is also a candidate for Media Borough Council but on the Democratic ticket.

Hampton Inn moves forward - Ok'd by Nether Providence Board of Commissioners

The Hampton Inn continues to move forward having had a preliminary land development plan approved by the Nether Providence Board of Commissioners.  Most of the hotel site falls in Media, but a small segment (8,300sqf.) needed for additional parking and trash receptacle is in Nether Providence and required acceptance.  The current proposal from the Pinnacle Hospitality Group calls for a four story, 107 room hotel.

Further information can be found through the Delco times article.
