A GOFUNDME page was created by RamboRadio to remove Swarthmore from Delco over a recent clash involving cancer patients access to temporary housing care. They've set a goal of $25,000 which under these circumstance may be doable. Not since Media Borough Council was put up for sale on Craigslist a few years back, have we seen something like this.
Unlike Media Borough Council who received zero bids, donations to remove Swarthmore will be given to HEADstrong who is the cancer treatment facility looking for a facility in Swarthmore.

First Tenant Slated for Promenade at Granite Run - Frank Cinemas Cinebowl and Grill
Things are starting to happen at the soon to be developed Promenade at Granite Run (formerly Granite Run Mall). There's a report that Frank Theatres Cinebowl and Grill is looking to sign up as a tenant and take over the former JC Penny's footprint which could be as much as 70,000sqf.
This is an interesting concept with Movies, Bowling, Games, a Bar/Grill and a lot of TV's and lounges.

What was once Media's Biggest night (Thanksgiving Eve) on State Street is now just like any other night.
I had hoped to write a piece about this before Thanksgiving, but was unable to get to it. Though I hadn't been out in Media on Thanksgiving Eve in years, I was surprised to see what had transpired since my absence. WOW, have things changed in Media. I still hope to get it out soon.

Milo: Too Controversial for Media Theatre? |
The event, booked in advance, was to be held at the Media Theatre on State Street Tuesday. November 14th. Promotion was being handled via the radio station and a Facebook Event they created (screen shot below). I wasn't aware of it until people started contacting me on Wednesday. In fact, I wasn't aware of who Milo was until a few weeks before that.
As reported by the radio station, the affair was cancelled by the Media theatre at the very last minute for reasons still unknown. I tried to reach out to a person close to the Media Theatre for clarification, but have not heard anything back yet. I also called the theatre directly on Friday and was told it was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. However, Rich Zeloli has a different story.
Apparently, Rich Zeloli and his marketing department haven’t been given an explanation from the Media Theatre. As Rich mentions on his show, their calls have gone unanswered even after both parties signed a contractual agreement.

Media Food Drive - a HUGE Success this year.
The bounty of food just kept pouring in on Monday night for the 4th annual Media Food and Turkey Drive. Each year a new record is set and 2016 was no exception. With food drop-offs at Nativity in Media and Saint Mary Magdalen in Upper Providence, an eye-opening 478 turkeys were collected. WOW! That's fantastic.
Santa Parade and Fun Run Sunday Nov 27th.
To register for the Run/Walk prior to the parade, make sure to drop by the sign-up page For those attending the parade with dinner in mind, make sure to get early restaurant reservations as they go quick. Also here's video from last year.
Everybody's City - Media, PA
Whether it's called "Urbanization"or "Co-Living" or whatever; Media is in the midst of unprecedented transition. Here's the conceptual vision of what that looks like by the company building Media's West End Flats.
Plumstead Inn and Towne House Restaurants
What was once the BIGGEST Night in Media (Thanksgiving Eve), just won't be the same without the Plumstead Inn. I'll write more about this this week, but something is definitely missing from the hometown feel this year. And with high school reunions typically taking place over thanksgiving weekend in Media, you can put the Towne House in that category too.

The Most Fabulous Internet Super Villain of the Internet - Scheduled for Media - CANCELLED!
You've probably gotten to this part of today's segment and may be wondering, "WOW, Tedman may not have known about Media's latest controversy last Tuesday." Oh, no, I know about. In fact, I've been asking questions and both sides are giving different stories. That'll post will come out this week too.
Media's Best Bar for Snow Days? (aka Snowload?)
Now that I think about it and the temperature for November is finally more seasonable, it's time to decide on which Media Bar/Restaurant gets the title of "Media's Best Bar for Snow Days." It was once coveted by the Plumstead Inn who had to forfeit the right when they closed back in February. Perhaps we'll do an impromptu poll to see at least who is in the running.
I must admit, those glorious days of the Media "Snowload" escapades have passed me by, so it wouldn't be right for me to elect this new venue without the help of the younger crowd. Or perhaps and elected "ambassador" of such a responsibility.

WOW! What a night for the Great Media Turkey Challenge of 2016 - A RECORD YEAR!
The numbers are in and it was a BANNER year for the 2016 Turkey Drive. With last year's number of 339 to beat; that was done handily in 90 minutes on Monday. The new record: 478 turkeys!!!
I arrived shortly after 6pm to see the Media team in full force. They had a big tent, lights, beverages and even a small bonfire going to keep spirits high. And with 20-30 people ready to unload vehicles, they didn't disappoint. There was also the St. Mary Magdalen Team that did their part too. In addition, the Holy Trinity Parish of Chicago, IL was back with new comer, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Springfield, PA.
There was a steady stream of cars pulling up to unload throughout the evening. Some even walking up to drop off goods. It was not only their biggest event in four years, but also their best. A fun time that really showed the community's spirit. I can't wait to see what they have in store for next year, but in the mean time, the Media Food bank is chock-full of turkeys!
A special thanks to community advocate, coach and Upper Providence councilman, Tim Broadhurst and his team for not only making this a great time, but an important event for out community that we're all very proud of.

Media in Two Minutes - Post Election 2016
Media In Two Minutes!
THANKS, Poll Workers!
A special thanks to everyone who worked the voting polls this week. With something around a 80 to 90% voter turn-out on Tuesday, it was a busy, almost non-stop day voting. Thank you to both democrats and republicans who staff these polls and ensure that everything goes smoothly.
Also, thanks to everyone for taking down their campaign yard signs in public places. This seems to have gotten much better over the years. If you see them lingering after a few days, leave a comment as to where they are and I'll personally remove and have them recycled.
The GREAT MEDIA TURKEY DRIVE - We Must Beat 339!
Folks,
We have all the pieces in place to make the this year's food drive bigger than ever on Monday, Nov. 14th. With many more people participating, a way to pull up and drop off food at a few locations, and a Can-Do attitude; we must break the record of 339 turkeys we had last year.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we will be holding our 4th Annual Nativity BVM vs St. Mary Magdalene Turkey and Food Drive supporting the Media Food Bank. Due to the success we’ve had and the exposure we’ve gained over the last three years (close to 800 turkeys) we are happy to announce that we will also be supporting the St. Mark’s Food Bank in Broomall and The Bernadine Center in Chester. We would also like to welcome St. Francis of Assisi in Springfield to this great annual tradition………may the best parish win!!!
We will be collecting all turkey and food donations on Monday, November 14th from 6 – 7:30pm in front of the Nativity Parish Center at 301 Galey Street, Media, PA (one block off of Baltimore Pike). All you have to do is pull your car up and one of our CYO (or past CYO) athletes or coaches will unload your donation for you. If you are unable to make it to that night or would like to give a cash donation, please let me know and I would be more than happy to pick it up from you. Last year we beat St. Mary’s AGAIN to remain undefeated (3-0) so please support this great cause and help us make it (4-0) but more importantly, let’s help those less fortunate than us during this holiday season. Please email this flyer to friends and family, post it on Facebook, Tweet it, Hashtag# it, SnapChat it, Instagram it or send it via carrier pigeon………….help us get the word out. Your support is the reason we are able to help so many people. Thank you, Michael Graham
So, if you're at the store today, please make sure to pick up something extra for this drive. I hope to cover it live on Facebook. Thx
Santa Parade and Fun Run/Walk
There are groups just clamoring to be a part of this year's Santa Parade and Fun Run/Walk. That goes to show how big this event has become in just three years! It's easily Media's biggest event and keeps growing. To get all the latest updates, check out their new webpage and FB site.
Here's video from last year (2015)
3rd Street Bridge - One year closer to completion.
As we wind down another year, many in the community wonder at this time if the 3rd Street Bridge will ever get completed. (We've done this for 20 years now) With all the new housing and development going on, it's needed now more than ever.
The good news is that Media Borough council is no longer obstructing the bridge as they have done for decades. After being found in contempt of court, they finally had to act. It's now a matter of it moving through the state government, which takes time.
You should see the breach of the dam soon, which will be the first step of the reconstruction. I'd say at this point you won't be able to drive across the new bridge until 2018.
Here's archive video of the bridge from 2011.
Media Fire Company Wreath and Garland Drive has been discontinued.
Many people in the community looked forward to helping out the Media Fire Company by purchasing wreaths and garland during their Christmas drive. Unfortunately, I learned this week that they will not be doing it this year.

Media in Two Minutes - The Election
Media in Two Minutes - The Election![]() |
The Election Coverage Archives |
What would it be without a little more election news leading up to one of the biggest decisions in modern day politics? We've had voter fraud registration investigations, questioning of campaign finance submissions and a visit from Tiffany Trump to Media, Pa. We even had Trump himself interested in wrapping up his campaign in Everybody's Hometown. Wow, a busy week.
Truthfully, having worked for Clinton administration, I can say I've not been questioned or investigated. It was always joked in D.C.: "Being indicted is nothing more than a career change." followed by a nervous laugh. With a lot of opportunity and influence in an environment like that, it was also kidded: "Crime doesn't pay nearly as well as politics." Not sure how much of a joke that one really was.
I worked on economic policy with the Dept. of Commerce and helped re-introduce something called ISTEA. (Not this ICE-T) I also, for reasons still unknown to me, had boxes full of M&M candies under my desk that were given out as snacks on Air Force One. I don't know if they were there for temporary storage to be brought to the plane, or if they came from the plane. Either-way we ate most of them and I'm willing to bet the small boxes meant for the trash. inadvertently went into the archive boxes(next to the trashcans) and can probably be found in the Library of Congress somewhere. I may someday write about those stories, but back to Media in Two Minutes
**** BREAKING **** Gas line rupture due to car crashing into residential house causes evacuations this morning.
Pairings - Cigar Bar
I understand the concept, but can't say I've been to a real "Cigar Bar" until I stopped by Pairings on State Street yesterday. The place is fantastic and tastefully done with a great layout and attention to detail. It's a lounge of sorts where you can sit at the bar, order a drink and watch the game on their massively huge tvs, or hang out on the nicely appointed leather couches. Cigar and accessory selection is top notch too.
I like it! Can't wait to go back.
Leaf Pickup in Media Borough
It's peak leaf season and they are a fallin'. So what better time than to know the schedule of Media's leaf pick-up.
Turkey Drive - Expands
This gets bigger and bigger every year and now it's helping out a lot more people. Make sure to stock up next time you're at the grocery store, as the GREAT MEDIA THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE IS NOV 14th. We'll have a lot more on this later in the week.
Plumstead Inn
Yes, it's been many months since the Plumstead closed back in February 2016. But that's not to say it still isn't missed. It's not until now that we're on the cusp of the holiday season and competitive football; that people may agree that they enjoyed the Plumstead the most. I'm one of them and don't know how I'll get through the season this year.

The Rumors Were True! Trump considered Media, PA for his last campaign Rally!

Trump considered Media, PA for his last campaign Rally! |
I've been through this enough to know that addressing the rumors I received today about a Trump visit to Media just substantiates the fact that they may very well be real. So, it was prudent to get the full details before commenting. Nobody wants to hear conjecture - who's got time for that?
I was waiting for this to play out, but the rumors were indeed true. Today the Trump campaign was actively seeking to visit Media, PA on either Sunday or Monday and even the day flip-flopped a few times. Media was thought to be the best spot, but Ridley High School was also considered. It mostly came down to operational logistics to pull something like this off. And with just 48 hours to do it, it's a herculean task that takes around the clock management to make it happen.
However, It was close enough to happening that they even got down to the details of setting up metal detectors by the old Towne House Restaurant. In addition, I heard a few calls were also made to local businesses by the secret service for preliminary security assessments.
As of 4pm today, the campaign pulled out and will most likely be in Scranton, PA for their last rally of a long and interesting presidential campaign. Truthfully, Media would have been too small for a crowd typically drawn by Trump that could be as many as 15 to 20 thousand. Either way, Pennsylvania may very well decide this presidential election.

Due to overwhelming demand, Indraloka Animal Sanctuary WILL NOT be able to pick up pumpkins
Statement by Indraloka Animal Sanctuary:
Wow! We are amazed and grateful for the huge response to our request for pumpkin donations! At this time, we have received so many kind offers that we cannot physically take in any more pumpkins. In fact, we have received so many text messages, phone calls, emails, and social media messages that our tiny team is struggling to find time to reply to everyone. So, we apologize for this generic message, and please know that we are very, very grateful for your kindness. We hope you will look for another sanctuary for farmed animals near you, and donate your pumpkins to them!

Questions raised over generator recently installed at borough hall.
Questions raised by community over recently installed generator at Media Borough Hall. How much did it cost, what fuel does it run on, how loud is it and how much power does it provide; are just a few. For a borough council that likes to keep people in the dark, this is some what ironic.
The only information shared by Media Borough on their website was the initial 'advertisement for bid' for a generator replacement.
